Webinar On Demand: Minimize

An Overview of the Business Value of the Business Analysis Master’s Certificate Track

Summary: "The hardest single part of building a software system is deciding what to build….No other part of the work so cripples the resulting system if done wrong.  No other part is more difficult to rectify later."  [Brooks, F.P. No Silver Bullet: Essence and Accidents of Software Engineering. IEEE Computer, 10-19]

Many requirements errors are passed undetected to the later phases of the life cycle, and correcting these errors during or after implementation has been found to be extremely costly.  The Department of Defense Software Technology Plan states that “early defect fixes are typically two orders of magnitude cheaper than late defect fixes, and the early requirments and design defects typically leave more serious operational consequences.

For business requirements and goals to be converted to innovative solutions that truly reflect the needs of the business, the Business Analyst is emerging as the role responsible for collaborating with business stakeholders to build strong relationships between the business and technical communities when implementing a new IT enabled business solution."
