Mark J. Balish

Mark J. Balish is President and Founder of PMCentersUSA and ConsultUSA. He has more than 25 years of Marketing, Sales, Executive Leadership, Software Development, Business Process Analysis, Business Analysis and Project Management experience in the IT industry. Following a successful management and executive career with XLConnect and Digital Equipment Corporation, Mark founded ConsultUSA, an IT staffing, training, and solutions organization, in 1997. That same year, he teamed with Mr. Walter Bowman to establish PMCentersUSA, a professional project management training and consulting company, which became a Project Management Institute (PMI)® Charter Global Registered Education Provider in 1999 providing a Master’s Certificate in Project Management. In 2007, Mark directed PMCentersUSA to become an Endorsed Education Provider™ for the International Institute of Business Analysis® and to add business analysis as a training focus, leveraging core competencies in this growing area.

 
Under Mark’s leadership, both organizations have grown significantly and are structured to work together in training and consulting as solutions partners. Mark formed the organization’s alliance program with the University of Pittsburgh, Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business, Pittsburgh, PA

Through this alliance, PMCentersUSA course offerings in project management, business analysis, agile and interpersonal skills development are made available via open enrollment programs in the executive education sectors of some of the top business schools in this county. Because of the organization’s dedication to quality in its courseware development and delivery, PMCentersUSA was named the Professional Development Provider of the Year by PMI® in 2006, surpassing more than 1,100 other training organizations competing for the coveted award.

 
In 2008, Mark welcomed Joe Lukas to the team, and in 2009 named him Vice President of PMCentersUSA as Walter Bowman assumed an Executive Director Emeritus position within the organization. In 2010, under Mark’s direction, Joe re-platformed the PMCentersUSA course offerings for delivery on a live, virtual instructor-led medium, and his weekly webinars for PMCentersUSA began to gain momentum. These live sessions exposed thousands of people to PMCentersUSA and became the gateway for the organization to scale and offer its training using a similar live, interactive, online venue. The advent of virtual project management and business analysis training gave PMCentersUSA the ability to increase its number of course offerings exponentially.
 
Today, Mark’s innovative training organization provides interactive virtual sessions in the morning, afternoon and evening to accommodate students across multiple time zones.  In 2012 he focused on expanding the company’s course offerings, which now include Agile and Scrum training programs, interpersonal skills programs, and examination preparation programs for PMI®’s certifications including the Program Management Professional (PgMP)®,  Project Management Professional (PMP)®, and Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)®​.
 
A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mark received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh and his MBA from the University’s Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business. In 2004, Mark also completed a Katz Entrepreneurial Fellowship Program at the University. In 2007, he completed an executive forum on Entrepreneurial Leadership and in 2009 he completed a one-year forum entitled, “Entrepreneurship through Small Business Acquisition” both at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business.
